Modernization and automation for statewide child welfare systems
case study
When it comes to child welfare, inefficient tech is not an option
Spending time on duplicate data entry, difficult intake and referral systems, and limited reporting capabilities means spending less time on what matters: keeping kids safe. Our client needed to streamline their systems.
Taking care of the system, so the system can take care of kids
Over 3 years, our team of project managers, business analysts, UI/UX designers, and developers worked with the State to develop and execute against a modernization roadmap. This project touched every part of the State’s system, from intake and referrals to resource/provider management.
The last thing these kids needed was more disruption. They needed a solution.
Since child welfare is not something that can go out of commission during a lengthy development process, we operated in Agile sprint to quickly push out deliverables, including a responsive, web-based .NET application and flexible mobile application, a streamlined intake process with smart navigation, an organized and responsive database and, all with a clean, modern look for all system applications.
Planning makes perfect
To reduce development time and caseworker training time—and stay within the State’s budget—we focused on combining new development with reusing existing legacy functionality.
From making it work to making an impact
Now the State has the ability to ensure children are safe and their families are healthy—and the ability to appropriately and rapidly respond to children’s needs in an emergency situation, whenever and wherever it arises.
